We are a takeaway, not a data business. We keep as little as we can, we use it to answer you, and we never sell it.
The George Spot Ltd, registered in England and Wales under company number 16825538, registered office 72 Streatham Hill, London SW2 4RD. We are responsible for the information on this page. To ask us anything about your details, email info@thegeorgespot.co.uk or ring 020 3859 6889.
The form on this site asks for your name, your email address and your message. It arrives in our inbox as an email and we reply to it. We use it for that and nothing else — asking us a question does not put you on a mailing list, because we do not have one.
We keep enquiries for about a year, in case a conversation picks up again, and then they go. If your message turns into something we had to invoice, we have to keep that invoice for six years because HMRC requires it. That is the one thing we cannot delete on request, and we will say so if it applies to you.
You cannot order through this website. The order buttons take you to Just Eat, Deliveroo, Uber Eats or Too Good To Go, and from the moment you land on one of them you are dealing with that company, under its own privacy policy and not this one. We only ever see what they pass to us to get your food to you — your order, your first name and, for delivery, your address.
If you order over the phone we take your name, your number and your order so we can cook it and call you back if something is off. We do not keep a list of who ordered what.
The reviews shown here were left publicly on Google by customers, under whatever name they chose to use there. We quote them as they were written. If one is yours and you would rather it was not on our site, email us and we will take it down.
We use a privacy-friendly analytics tool that counts visits without cookies and without anything that identifies you. It tells us how many people looked at the menu this week. It cannot tell us who they were, and that is exactly why we chose it. We set no cookies of our own, which is why this site does not stop you with a cookie banner.
The Find Us section shows a Google map. That is loaded by Google as you view the page, so Google can see your internet address and may set its own cookies, in the same way it would if you had opened Google Maps yourself. The order buttons are plain links and load nothing until you click them. Everything else on the page comes from our own server.
Our server keeps a short record of requests made to the site, including the internet address they came from, and a line for each enquiry sent through the form. We use it to spot someone trying to break in or to flood us with spam, and it is deleted when the site is next updated.
Appy Web Studio, who build and run this website for us, and the email service they use to deliver form enquiries to our inbox. Both only handle it to provide their service to us. The delivery apps hold their own customer records, which are theirs and not ours. Nobody buys this information from us and nobody is given it for marketing.
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, and we will do it — apart from the invoices above. You can also tell us to stop using it. Just email us; you do not need to explain why, and it costs nothing. For anything held by Just Eat, Deliveroo, Uber Eats or Too Good To Go you will need to ask them, because we cannot reach into their systems.
Tell us first and we will try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
